There is nothing quite like the first cup brewed from the season’s earliest harvest. Our Assam CTC First Flush is sourced from select tea estates in the Dibrugarh district of Upper Assam, where alluvial soil, warm humidity, and the Brahmaputra’s moisture-laden breeze produce some of the finest CTC leaves in the world.
This is a Broken Orange Pekoe Small (BOPSM) grade tea — the highest quality designation in CTC processing. The dry leaves are tightly rolled, uniform granules with a rich dark-brown appearance. Once brewed, they open into a golden bright liquor with a saffron-like hue that immediately tells you this is no ordinary chai.
What makes First Flush special? First flush refers to the very first plucking of the season, typically between late February and April. These young leaves carry a lighter body, sweeter notes, and a distinctive freshness that second flush teas simply cannot replicate. The tender leaves have had months to store nutrients during winter dormancy, resulting in higher concentrations of amino acids and flavour compounds. If you appreciate subtlety in your daily cup, first flush CTC is the connoisseur’s choice for milk tea.
Who is this tea for? Families upgrading from supermarket tea to garden-direct quality. Tea enthusiasts who want to taste the difference between seasonal harvests. Anyone in Guwahati or across India looking for authentic, unblended Assam CTC at an honest price.

Brewing Guide
For Traditional Stovetop Chai (recommended):
- Tea: 2 heaped teaspoons per cup
- Water: 150ml per cup
- Milk: 150ml per cup (full-fat recommended)
- Temperature: 95°C (rolling boil)
- Method: Boil water → add tea → boil 1–2 min → add milk → simmer 2–3 min → strain and serve
- Steep Time: 3–5 minutes total
For Kettle Brew:
- Tea: 2 teaspoons per cup
- Water: 200ml at 95°C
- Steep: 3–5 minutes
- Add milk and sugar to taste after steeping
Pro Tip: For the strongest, most flavourful cup, boil the tea leaves directly in the water for 60 seconds before adding milk. This initial extraction releases the malty depth that Assam CTC is known for.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does Assam CTC First Flush tea taste like? A: It produces a golden bright cup with a rich, creamy malty flavour. Lighter and sweeter than second flush, with notes of toasted grain and a smooth finish. Best enjoyed with milk and sugar.
Q: How is First Flush different from regular CTC tea? A: First flush is the season’s earliest harvest (February–April). The young leaves produce a lighter body, sweeter notes, and a distinctive freshness that later harvests lack. It is considered the premium pick for daily chai.
Q: How should I store this tea to keep it fresh? A: Transfer to an airtight container (ceramic, glass, or tin) away from sunlight, moisture, and strong odours. Properly stored, CTC tea maintains its best flavour for 12–18 months. Do not refrigerate — condensation damages tea leaves.
Q: How many cups does 1KG make? A: Approximately 200–250 cups, depending on how strong you brew. At 2 teaspoons per cup, a family of 4 drinking 3 cups each daily will use about 1KG per month.
