Significance of Green Tea Realised In the Assam- Arunachal Boundary

Green tea loaded with rich amount of antioxidants and phytonutrients provides protection to the body from harmful radicals. With the power to improve body metabolism and strengthen the immune system. It consists of those ingredients that supports cardiovascular system. While detoxifying the body, Green tea removes stress and anxiety.

Also Green tea isn’t advisable to drink immediately before bedtime because the caffeine activates the brain, making it difficult to fall asleep. Its also not advisable to pick up a cup of green tea that has been kept open for a while because the green tea loses its vitamin and antioxidant properties in this process.

Tea cultivation considered as money maker in Arunachal Pradesh and those areas bordering Assam significantly found its berth in Siang valley. After the success of the green tea produced by the Donyi Polo Tea Estate of the Siang Tea Industries in Oyan which is located in the East Siang district, another tea planter started the same business of producing and marketing green tea , thereby understanding the needs of the local markets.

Since there is a lack of proper industries in the region, the business – minded horticulturists of the region have set their eyes on tea-based industry. Depending on the suitability, some of the tea growers are growing small tea gardens and producing green tea for their economic benefit.

The Yonggam Tea Estate, owned by an old tea planter Nyodek Yonggam set up a green tea production unit in Oyan, near the Assam-Arunachal boundary. Yonggam , a retired chief commissioner of state information commission(RTI) and also an ex- Rajya Sabha member earlier worked with in the Doom Dooma Tea Company Ltd, where he gained practical knowledge of scientific tea cultivation,

He is now playing an active role in extending tea cultivation in Siang basin. Remarkably, the former Arunachal governor JP Rajkhowa awarded to Yonggam for his noteworthy contribution in the field of public service and tea plantation in the state.

Octogenarian Yonggam, a locale from the Oyan village developed a tea garden in a 10 hectare plot in his residential complex, which produces over 60,000 kgs of green tea leaves per year.

Green tea is that type of drink which can be drank at anytime of the day. But there are few things that must be kept in mind before preparing it. Make sure there is a gap of half-an-hour from the last meal you had so that the nutrients gets absorbed easily by the body. So it is not advisable to have green tea immediately before a meal.
