Artisanal Flowery Black Orthodox Tea 100gms

Our Artisanal Flowery Black Orthodox Tea is handcrafted in small batches using traditional methods that predate modern factory processing. Each leaf is hand-rolled and carefully oxidised by experienced tea craftsmen, producing a tea with a complexity and character that machine-processed tea simply cannot replicate.

The “flowery” designation indicates that this tea includes the youngest tips and leaves from the bush, which contribute a floral sweetness and aromatic elegance to the cup. In tea grading, “flowery” is a mark of quality — it means the plucking standard was fine enough to include these delicate, flavour-rich tips.

The orthodox processing preserves the whole leaf structure, resulting in a visually beautiful tea that unfurls gracefully in hot water. Watching the leaves open during steeping is part of the experience — each leaf tells the story of the hand that rolled it.

This is a special-occasion tea. It rewards slow, attentive drinking. Brew it when you have time to sit quietly, observe the leaves unfurl, and notice how the flavour evolves from the first sip to the last.

Appearance: Rich amber liquor with warm depth.

Aroma: Distinctly floral with malty Assam undertones. Sweet and inviting.

Flavour: Rich and aromatic with distinct floral notes and a smooth, full body. The hand-rolling produces a more nuanced flavour than machine-processed tea — layers that reveal themselves as the tea cools. Sweet, malty, and refined.

Body: Full but elegant. Smooth mouthfeel.

Finish: Long and warming. Floral sweetness lingers pleasantly.

• Tea: 1 heaped tsp per cup
• Water: 200ml at 90°C
• Steep: 3–4 min
• Serve: Plain to appreciate the floral character, or with a small splash of milk. Morning or afternoon.

Q: What does artisanal mean for tea?

A: Artisanal means this tea is hand-processed in small batches rather than machine-processed in a factory. Each leaf is hand-rolled by experienced craftsmen, producing a more nuanced, complex flavour than industrial processing allows.

Q: What does flowery mean in tea grading?

A: Flowery indicates the tea includes the youngest tips and leaves, which contribute floral sweetness and aromatic elegance. It is a quality indicator — flowery grades use finer plucking standards than regular grades.

Q: How is this different from regular Assam orthodox tea?

A: The artisanal hand-rolling process and flowery grade (youngest tips included) make this more aromatic, more complex, and more refined than standard orthodox tea. Think of it as the handmade craft version versus factory production.
